The 30 November deadline is set by the act (art. 14a(5)): for a February exam you apply by 30 November of the year before, and for a September exam by 15 July of the same year. CEM announced 10 February 2027 on 1 September 2026.

Who may sit the LDEK

  • a dentist, or
  • someone who has completed 8 semesters of the five-year dentistry programme at a university in Poland, confirmed by the university in SMK.

How to apply in SMK

  1. Create an SMK account at smk.ezdrowie.gov.pl. You need a PESEL number: without one, SMK will not let you create the application.
  2. Confirm your identity and your role. CEM says this is done at your regional medical chamber or the Supreme Medical Chamber. Do it early: you cannot apply until your account has the right role (student, graduate or dentist).
  3. Create the application. In the side menu choose "Lekarsko-Dentystyczny Egzamin Końcowy", then "Nowy wniosek". You don't pick the session: SMK assigns the next one, spring 2027.
  4. Fill in the form. First choose the exam language. If you sit it in Polish, rank your preferred exam locations; if you choose English, SMK shows where that exam takes place.
  5. Press "Wyślij" (send). SMK gives the application a number and a status: "Dopuszczony" (admitted) if there is no fee, or "Oczekuje na płatność" (awaiting payment). You can file only one application per session, and you can still update it until 30 November.

What it costs

SituationFee
First application, exam in Polish0 zł
Second application after failing or not sitting the first exam0 zł (once)
Any other second or later application, e.g. to raise your score250 zł
Exam in a foreign language (English), every application400 zł

Pay to the individual account number SMK shows on your application; it is different for every session. The payment counts on the day it reaches CEM's account. If you don't pay, or pay too little, CEM asks you in SMK to fix it within 7 days; otherwise the application is treated as not filed. If you withdraw, the fee is not refunded.

If something goes wrong

  • If SMK is down for more than an hour during the last week before the deadline, the deadline is extended by the length of the outage (art. 14a(6)).
  • For SMK problems, call the e-Health Centre helpline on 19239 (24/7) or write to smk-serwis@cez.gov.pl.
  • For questions about the exam itself, CEM answers on 515 789 272 (8:00–16:00) and at lek@cem.edu.pl.

On the day

Bring an identity document (CEM suggests a physical one rather than an electronic one), a sharpened 2B or 3B pencil and an eraser. You don't need your diploma or licence. The exam is 200 single-answer questions in 4 hours, and you pass with at least 56% of the points. How the score works is in What the LDEK is and how it is scored.

After the deadline there are just over 10 weeks to the exam, and 70% of the questions come from CEM's public question bank. You can practise the whole bank free in Egzamy, with explanations and every question in Polish and in English: create a free account.
